 Garth Elder from Timaru on the South Island of New Zealand would probably count himself as a bit of a mower fanatic. He has recently acquired a 1930 machine, number 9284, originally sold to 'New Zealand Express', a distribution agent. The mower, with three others worked in the grounds of T J Edmonds Cooking Products, a well known New Zealand brand founded in 1870. Their cook books have widespread acclaim. Garth's machine together with another of the Edmonds machines spent nearly 60 years in the care of another collector and when Garth came into possession of the mower, he also acquired most of a second machine as spares. Within days, after a bit of fettling and fresh fuel, the machine was running sweetly. It looks as though 9284 will have a secure future.  Its original place of work
